Song List

July 22nd, 2008

I’m slowly compiling a list of songs, in my head, to give to our eventual DJ so that he does not play them throughout the night.  You know the ones I’m talking about, the ones played at EVERY wedding.

I’m speaking to you, Barry White.

And We’re Back

June 4th, 2008

Well, after putting the wedding on hold (kind of, more like delaying it), we’ve decided to go full force and try to plan something for 2009.  We were previously looking for a house, but realized we would be better off doing the wedding of our dreams and then worrying about how we’ll afford a house.  So, here’s to wedding planning.  Cheers.

Wedding Photos

Wedding photos that we’re all likely to remember.

1.5 Million

March 16th, 2008

Saw an Indian wedding on some television show where the bride and groom spent one point five million dollars.  Utterly shocking.

Do you know what I could do with one point five million dollars?  Have the wedding of our dreams, buy our dream house, and buy two vacations homes.  Insane.

Tastings

March 2nd, 2008

We’re set for a tasting at ‘the place’ for April 20th.  What is the etiquette for these things?  Do I go there dressed as if I’m going to a formal event?  Do I only sample the food?  Do I make compliments when appropriate?  Do I really need to make small talk with the people sitting at my table?

And just in case we’re not, you know, sold on the food — can we sign up for another tasting session?  Better yet, even if we’re sold on the food, can we come to the next tasting?

25th Wedding Anniversary

February 25th, 2008

At the banquet of Tom and Susan’s 25th wedding anniversary, Tom was asked to give his friends a brief account of the benefits of a marriage of such long duration.

“Tell us, Tom, just what is it you have learned from all those wonderful years with your wife?”

Tom responded, “Well, I’ve learned that marriage is the best teacher of all. It teaches you loyalty, forbearance, meekness, self-restraint, forgiveness — and a great many other qualities you wouldn’t have needed if you’d stayed single.”

Cookies

February 24th, 2008

I won’t ruin the surprise of our wedding favors completely, but one thing we did want to do was provide home-made cookies from my Aunt Marge (assuming she wants the job, that is!).

We just got into a discussion about how many cookies we should give to each individual at the wedding. “Five cookies each!” That’s way too much, how about two? “Well, maybe four is better.” Yeah, four is better. “Actually, three might be best.” Oh yeah, definitely, three is perfect.

We’re just about two years away from the wedding reception. And we’re going back and forth on how many cookies we should give each guest.

And this is why I love her so much.

Welcome!

February 24th, 2008

We got engaged in the middle of August of 2007 (honestly, I don’t know the exact date — at least I can admit it) while on vacation in Florida.

We didn’t really start to plan anything until a week or so ago. And now we practically have a finalized wedding date as well as a wedding location.

While I am very excited to have a wedding (and thus be married to her), I know we have a very long time between now and the actual wedding. And as such, I’m sure plenty of frustration will be thrown upon us as we plan, book, and decide not to invite the majority of my family of whom I don’t know the names of.

So hang on, because the insanity has just begun (for me, at least).

My goal for this site is to tell you about everything related to wedding planning from the groom’s point of view — from the good times, the frustrations, the stressful times, and the insane amounts of debt we’re about to dive into. We have a wedding site being designed that will feature everything about the wedding, so don’t expect this site to be that site.
